THE RACQ Capricorn Rescue Helicopter responded to an emergency call last week on board a cargo ship.

Located at Anchorage, off the coast of Gladstone, the cargo ship, River Embley had experienced an engine fire, which resulted in three ship personnel who had attended the fire, suffering breathing difficulties and nausea as a result of smoke inhalation.

The RACQ Capricorn Rescue Helicopter landed on the vessel and the injured men were assessed by an Intensive Care Paramedic.

Two of the men, a 35-year-old and a 22-year-old, were flown directly to Gladstone Hospital for observation and further testing.
