PERTH-based operator of Western Australia’s four main grain export ports, CBH Group is using an online auction system to manage its port capacity allocation, fluctuating demurrage costs and demand spikes.

Tradeslot, the creator of the online auction system says it will ensure access to the ports is fair and equitable as it manages the high demand from the grain export industry.

CBH Group’s port capacity will be sold in monthly blocks with the first one completed in October and transaction approximately 4.8 million tonne of capacity.

"It has proven to be an effective means to allocate port capacity fairly, especially given such high demand," CBH group executive manager of logistics, Tim Collins says.
