Fremantle Port welcomes AWH Logistics’ automated container washing system

FREMANTLE Port has welcomed the installation of AWH Logistics’ automated container washing system which can wash a six metre high shipping container in less than five minutes.

AWH Logistics’ washing system consists of a series of rotating sprinkler heads which deliver more than 250L of water per minute during the wash cycle.

According to AWH Logistics, the automated container washing system uses rainwater which is collected in water tanks. This water is used for the wash downs, then degreased and filtered for re-use. With 200,000L capacity water storage on-site, no mains water needs to be used.

AWH Logistics says the system been designed in New Zealand and aims to introduce the system in Australia.
